This is another dream that I wrote down quickly in the middle of the night, it's a completely raw brain dump for a short story. Why the Portuguese Women's Olympic team, I don't know.
Olympic beach volley ball comedy/disaster/horror story. Sponsored by coke cola, the sport takes over a small thinly populated island paradise. The locals turn angry on the sport after the total domination of the island and the strict demands and remodelling. The ecosystem is being damaged beyond repair in the name of profit. Natural stony beach defences are replaced with more attractive sandy banks that will look better on tv.
Story told from the POV of a young traveller who befriends and falls in love with a member of the Portuguese women's team during pre games training. In the face of corporate greed and exploitation, a community rises to defend their way if life with murderous results. Rainy season, mosquitoes, hornets, sharks, snakes, trapped on an island, dangerous unfinished construction sites, angry native mobs, despicable profiteering corporate villains, disintegrating natural habitats etc etc. glass on the volley ball courts. Local guides misleading swimmers into shark breeding grounds. Machete murders.
